HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

It is that time of year again where we stop and reflect on our lives and ourselves for the past year. I know that 2011 was a year of challenges and happiness for me. Emotions were like a roller coaster, I found out I have RA.... and it took so long to find the perfect combination of medication for me to function semi normally. Had a great summer in with my family, golfing and road trips, and being able to get back to creating. Then just when I thought everything was going well that same medication that was to help me started to do a number on my liver. Well without going into a long drawn out story... I had a spot on my liver, had a CT scan then a MRI.... the week of anticipation was the true roller coaster. It was the week before Christmas and I was worried. Thank God for MRI's... it was determined that what I have is not the worst thing possible.... it is something that I can live a long time with.

I had a wonderful Christmas... and hope that all of you did too. I also hope you have the most wonderful New Year ever... whether you are a customer of mine... a fellow artist... or a faithful follower of my blog. I appreciate all your comments and well wishes, and I hope to make the most of the new year.

A New Year

Happy New Year friends.....
Wow the year went by so fast and I am late as usual in getting my greetings out. I have a lot to be thankful for in 2010 but with that said I hope 2011 brings some relief from the RA. I am doing a bit better and hopefully the medicine is taking hold and things may get back to a workable normalcy. I would love to sew again. I have great ideas I just cant get them from the drawing board to the internet..... but I will make use of any day that I can sew or create.
I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday and may you be blessed in 2011 with all that you desire. I wish you health, happiness, and the love of your family and friends.

I am so happy to finally have been able to sew something. The pain is still disabling but I was able to get through with few stops. I am paying for it today but today I rest. I am pleased to offer this sweet Pilgrim Frog...."Lilly" on my PFATT page. You can see her on the 10th and if you cant resist you can purchase her too. Hehehehehehe!!!!
She is a Soft in the Head design and I just wanted to make her a pilgrim. She really is a sweetie!!!

Decisions' Decisions' Decisions'

Isn't it funny how life just throws you a curve ball..... how things happen and you just wasn't counting on that.... how you just didn't see that coming!!!! That is really how it has been for me for the past two months. I know most of you know that I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis.... I thought they had found me a miracle drug that was going to let me live my life normally just keep going on doing what I do and no interruptions. Oh well if that were only true. It seems the medication just isn't doing what it needs to do to keep me flexible enough to walk, open a can, cook a meal, brush my teeth, get dressed without help sometimes, and the biggest kicker is to SEW!!!! (Typing is taking me forever) ... There is something new every day.... you just never know what part will work on what day. I have used my hands all my working life.... 30 years as a professional pet groomer.... specializing in my scissor work,,,, I guess I used it all up! I knew that career would end and then it was off to do my favorite thing of all.... making my dolls, sewing and creating. See that's were the funny part comes in..... I though I had more time to do the fun stuff. Maybe not.....

I am to see a Rheumatoligist in a few day.... and I hope that we can find a medication that will allow my hands to work... or at least let me find a new way of doing things. I don't know what God has in store for me but I am listening to him real close to find out what he wants me to do.

I don't know when I will have anything new .... maybe next week.... maybe next year... I am going to keep on trying. I don't know if it is premature to close all my selling shoppes' .... I don't know weather to pack away all my needles and fabric.... I have many decisions to make.

Thanks to all my friends who have sent best wishes.... I do appreciate it.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Yes that is what I have. I know some of you may have thought I fell off the face of the earth but for the past month or so I have been tying to figure out what has been happening to me. I finally went to the doctor and it is confirmed.

I want to apologize to those who have been waiting for orders.... I just could not do anything till I got on some kind of medication. I waited so long and was in so much pain that I could hardly walk and could not even move my fingers to sew.

I am happy to report that I am doing so much better and can now function like a normal person again.... well as normal as I can be....!!! =)

I hope to have new items on the Internet as soon as I can get some of my back orders finished up and get reorganized!!!!

Remembering Mom......

Nettie Ethel Virginia (Ghrist) Lenz

With Mothers Day fast approaching I wanted to share my mom with you all. She was born in 1918 in Ohio. I don't really know how the family got to Illinois but her journey to the small town of Oquawka Illinois was one of great adventure I am sure. When mom was a young girl the family lived in the deep south.... in or around New Orleans. She use to tell us stories of her in the cotton fields toting a long bag for pickin cotton. She worked all her life.... As the family moved up north mom did all kinds of work I am sure, but the work I remember the most was that of a farmers wife.... working in the fields, driving a tractor, and being mother to 6 children. As the farm work ended she had to find work doing whatever she was good at and that was cooking. My mother was one of the best cooks ever. She could look into an empty refrigerator and come up with a meal fit for a king. She worked in a hospital and then at local restaurants in the area of our home town.

My mom was an Irish lass... kind hearted... would do anything for anyone. She loved a good joke... and loved her family with every fiber of her being. She was like a mother hen the way she protected us kids. Mom was just a big kid at heart.

As the years went on mom retired from her work..... and enjoyed her grand children. Mom's health began to fail and many obstacles including Alzheimer's took their tole on her. Mom has been gone now for many years but I can hear her voice in my ears all the time.... singing her little songs and coming up with her little quotes that would role off her tongue like silk. She had a saying for everything. She always had a smile and always made us smile.

I honor my Mother ..... my friend... my role model.... the person who made me who I am. Love you Mom!!!

I am so excited to present on EBay my original design of The Nutcracker. Any one who knows me knows that I am a BIG fan of the Nutcracker in every aspect. I have a collection that goes from the smallest to the largest and from the traditional to not traditional at all. Fall Colors

I just have to share these wonderful photos I took over the past few days. I had almost forgotten how beautiful the mid west could be in the fall of the year. With my daughter as the driver and me as the picture taker we went off on the most beautiful drive. We saw old barns.... I just love them. I am afraid that one day they will all be gone and future generations will never get to see them. We drove to Black Hawk State Park.... the we walked around and that is where we found the path. Oh my .... your imagination can just wonder there.
We found ourselves along the south bluff of the Rock River and found some Canadian Geese forging there, and of course another barn.
The day was picture perfect with the temp in the mid 70's and the sun was so bright...... as we shuffled through the leaves the awesome smell of the leaves just filled our heads. What a great day!!!!

I did some flower planting and made a bird house for my potting shed. I made some flower boxes for the potting shed and we put up a little pergola in front of it. Shane on the other had was busy pretending he was a great hunter and squirrel chaser. I really think the squirrel wanted to play!!! Now his cousin Gunner was busy with the rabbit...... Oh them good ole summer days.

We woke to a winter wonderland..... we must have gotten around 5" inches of snow last night. It was big Lucy Flakes as my sisters and I call them. Reminessent of Lucy catching them on her tounge. It is wet and heavy and will not last because we will be at 70 degrees by tomorrow (golf day).

I do hope that you all had a wonderful New Years celebration and are ready for the joys and trials of the new year. I want to thank each and every person who has inspired me by their kind words this past year. So many things has happened to me and I am looking forward to many more exciting adventures. I love the online groups that I belong to. WSOAPP and the members of this exciting group has given me so much in the way of fellowship and friends, and my new group "A Primitive Gathering of Sisters" promises to be an inspiration too. I love each and every one of you crazy gals and guys!
I never make resolutions but if I were going to try to do something different this year I would say that I am going to try to keep very busy and more productive this year. I want so much to create more and more. I always want to have one of my creations listed either on EBay, Etsy, or on my website. I do need to work on that. I want to fill up my site.....
I will be traveling a lot this year and you will find me here in New Mexico or in Illinois.....and I will be creating from both places. I cant wait to see what the new year has in store for all of us.... and I truly wish with all my heart that each and everyone of you have a wonderful and prosperous New Year.

Seems like the seasons keep getting more and more ahead of themselves now days. We haven't even celebrated the 4th of July and we are making witches. I don't mind..... I love making things for fall and winter. I wanted to share with you two new Lovely Ladies I have offered on EBay now. Vivica and Vinnie ..... !! What a duo these two are. I just love Vinnie... he is a hoot and a real love. Vivica has raised him from a hatchling.

Going On a Golf trip!!!!

Whooo hooo ..... I am so excited. Hubby and I are going on a golf trip to Las Vegas..... I can't hardly wait. I will post some pictures when I get back.

I have been so very sick with the cold or the flu for the past 5 days. Man oh man I don't know what kind of flu it was but I don't ever want it again. This trip is just what the doctor ordered!!!!

Oh I have been tagged again!!! My friend from Illinois, Tammy of Rock River Stitches got me.... I am to tell you how I got my name.

Well it isn't all that interesting but I will try to make it as interesting as possible.

You can see in the picture below where I live,... just outside of Albuquerque New Mexico.... and yes we are in the United States...... you wouldn't believe how many think we aren't. I live in the mountainous part just east of Albq. We have all around us trees that range from pinon, to all kinds of pine, to numerous cedar trees. I just happen to live in an area with a lot of cedar trees. They pop up all over..... and since I live on the side of a small hill.... and I love primitives and rustic decor.... I just came up with Cedar Hill Rustics. It took me all of about twenty minutes toying with all kinds of combinations but the end result was a no brainer! I am glad for that...... hehehe!!!! =)
